Unknown Soldier Update

A paintball team approached me for a design of a logo that was lost some time ago, with only a few smaller photo examples to work from. The wanted to take their pixel based artwork and transform it into a modern vector format to be used on jerseys, and other soft goods, as well as their digital presence.

COMPLICATIONS

The logo examples that were given were of quite low resolution, and some of the artwork was very obscured in the design. Fonts that may have been readily available at the time of creation (early 2000’s) were a lot harder to find than previously anticipated, and the heavy layering of the logo also presented with a challenge to get the correct look and feel that client requested.

SOLUTIONS

Using several programs, starting with the “Find my Font” software, the fonts were identified and warped to fit the look of the logo. Several revisions of the main logo artwork were also done in order to fit as closely as possible to the original provided artwork, and after some heavy online research, better examples of the logo were also found for a more accurate match. While the logo was originally effect heavy, modern vector program are much better equipped to handle the load, and vector magic was selected to get the basic shapes copied and used as a spring board in order to once again get the most accurate re-creation of the logo.
